Misau’s retirement letter is authentic, says PSC

Police Service Commission (PSC) says the retirement letter being paraded by the Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Misau, is authentic from the Force and it followed due process.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) says the retirement letter being paraded by the Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Misau, is authentic from the Force and it followed due process.

The Nigeria Police Force had on August 27, 2017 declared Misau a deserter and accused him of carrying a forged retirement letter.

Misau was also invited by the Commission to appear before its Special Panel investigating the alleged bribery allegation against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the genuineness or otherwise of the two letters of retirement emanating from the Commission.

The Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, told reporters in Abuja, that the committee confirmed that the letter was issued by the commission.

Ani said: “The police normally recommends people to us for retirement, so the recommendation came to the Commission and Misau’s name was included.

“We just confirmed that the retirement followed due process. The letter was dated March 5, 2014 to take effect from December 1, 2010.

“The Commission confirmed that we issued the letter with reference number; PSC/1034/V8/244.’’
