Kwara Assembly passes N122.4b budget

KWARA State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2015 appropriation bill with an in increase of N2.16 billion, bringing it to N122.4 billion, up from the N119.9 billion presented to it in December by Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed.

   According to the Speaker, Rasak Atunwa, the increase (2.16 percent) was due to government’s interest in N2 billion Micro, Small and Medium term loan from the opportunity provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enhance the Small and Medium Enterprises in the state.

   Recurrent Expenditure is now N58.3 billion, up from the N57.71 billion earlier presented by the governor, while Capital Expenditure is now N64.14 billion, up from the N62.13 billion

   Meanwhile, the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plans to cause war in the state ahead of the general elections.

   Specifically, it said the local PDP has set up a “21 war council members” of professionally trained members of the party to prosecute war in the state before, during and after the elections.
