‘Plateau’s emergency in education yielding huge success’

GOVERNOR Jonah Jang of Plateau State says his administration’s declaration of the state of emergency in the education sector eight years ago has led to a progressive and unprecedented turnaround in the state.

Jang made the disclosure at the weekend while receiving the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, near Jos, Prof. Tijjani Mohammed Bande, and participants of the Executive Course 37, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Jos.

According to him, some of his administration’s achievements in the education sector include renovation and furnishing of 20 primary schools in each of the 17 local councils, the ongoing expansion work in five secondary schools in each council, one science secondary school in each senatorial zone and the Government Technical College, Bukuru.

Also re-introduced, he said, was the old Grade Two Teachers’ Training as pivotal, as the first set of the trainees would be graduating this year.
