No Plans To Join Ondo PDP, SDP Declares
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has refuted claims made by the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the party would soon join the major opposition party in the country. In a meeting held in Akure recently, home of national chairman and leader of the party, Chief Olu Falae hails from, a communiqué was issued to refute “insinuations by the PDP in Ondo State that SDP leaders would soon come to join them.”
The communique signed by the State Chairman, Chief Korede Duyile, Chief Bayo Fajemilua, the State Secretary and the Director of Administration and Publicity, Remi Olayiwola, congratulated its members on the success of the last elections and victory in some parts of the country.
The party condemned the claims made by the state PDP, saying: “This is a figment of the imagination of the PDP leaders as nothing like that has happened or been contemplated.”
The party elders urged the PDP “to concentrate on resolving issues in their party rather than mischievously involving the SDP in the mobilization efforts of their party,” stating that, “SDP will continue to work assiduously with all political parties in the state and the country in general.”
