The former Acting Governor and former Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mr. James Barka has attributed the present economic crisis in the country to what he described as the falsehood with which the ousted People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ran Nigeria for 16 years.

The former chieftain of PDP who decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) told journalists in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, yesterday that the present economy situation is a confirmation that the real economic condition of the country was hidden to Nigerians by the PDP government.

“It is now clear to Nigerians that the economy the former Minister of Finance said was growing without direct impact on Nigerians was an artificial growth. Now that Buhari government has opened the facts to Nigerians, we now understand that PDP was running this country on deceit and blackmail,” he stated.

Barka, who said that the present government has achieved a lot in security, economic stability and the fight against corruption, noted that the defeat of Boko Haram insurgents was a major landmark achievement within one year of the APC government.

He said that with the arrest and trial of many ex-government officials who were untouchable under PDP government, it is now clear that President Muhammadu Buhari is ready to deal with the monster called corruption in Nigeria.

The former Nigerian envoy to Tunisia appealed to Nigerians to put aside party politics and ethnicity, and team up with Buhari to reclaim the past glory of the country, pointing out that the only thing that can take the country to developmental route is unity and not disharmony.
