A POLICE patrol team attached to Ajegunle Police Division, intercepted an armed robbery operation along Iba Road, Lagos, arresting a member of the gang.

The suspected armed robbery gang was attacking a male victim at C-Best Filling Station, Onikade area, Iba, when the patrol team intercepted them.

Police authorities said they arrested one of the suspects and recovered a locally-made pistol with live cartridges from him.

The other members of the gang were said to have escaped on a commercial motorcycle with Registration Number LSD-100-QF.

The Lagos State Police Command said the victim was safely rescued from the hoodlums and efforts were being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In another development, the Command said they were on the trail of the suspect who set the shop of his girlfriend ablaze following a misunderstanding between the duo.

The suspect simply identified as Ahmed had set ablaze the shop, which was the only means of livelihood of the victim, at Imore Community, Satellite Town, outskirts of Lagos.

The police said efforts to arrest the suspect were ongoing, adding that an innocent passerby, who was affected by the act of arson, sustained third degree burns.

The male victim has since been taken to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Lagos for medical attention and treatment.

The command said the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba were investigating both cases.
