Reps queries SON over seizure of goods
The House via the Mr Uzoma Nkem-Abonta led Committee on Public Petitions frowned at SON’s disregard of the House order and that of a federal high court directing it to stay action on the seizure of the products, which include Dorco disposable shaving stick and tooth brush.
The committee, thereby summoned SON’s Director General, Mr. Aboloma Osita, to appear before it on January 21 to explain why his outfit committed the infractions despite an order to allow the firm to sell the products pending conclusion of the matter.
Nkem-Abonta wondered why SON went ahead to interfere with the operation of D & K Golden Company, at a time the Federal Government is exploring the means to take the country out of the recession plaguing the polity.
Nkem -Abonta called on all the parties involved in the dispute to maintain status quo pending the outcome of the committee findings. The Committee directed the authorities of D& K Golden Investment Company Limited to resume business without interference from SON.
Messers Justice Ogbadinma and Imoh Kumasa, who stood in for SON at the resumed hearing feigned ignorance of the raid of the firm, just as they declined to admit that SON erred in law for ignoring the lawmakers order and that of the high court.
