Stop talking ill of our leaders, Bello urges Nigerians

Senator, clerics hold prayer session for Buhari
Those who spread the death rumours of President Muhammadu Buhari hate Nigeria, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said.

A statement, from his Director General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, to the Apapo Omo Yagba Congress at Isanlu over the weekend, said the country does not benefit from such “evil wishes against the President.”

He explained Buhari had confronted the prevailing recession in the land with the needed seriousness, noting that he suffered same fate while on a working holiday to Germany.

His words: “I visited our development partners and also took time out to undergo a minor surgery on my eye. Rumour went round that I had died. But today, we are serving the people of the state with all of our vigour and passion.

“I have a supreme confidence that under our anti-corruption President, Nigeria shall rise again.”

In the meantime, the representative of Bauchi South in the Senate, Ali Wakili, his supporters as well as Muslim clerics and faithful ‎have held a special prayer session for the President. The session, organised by the senator, enjoined Nigerians to pray ‎for Buhari’s speedy recovery rather than spreading false rumours on the social media about his purported death.

During the event yesterday in Bauchi, the Chief Imam of Abu Hurerah Mosques, Babangida Suleiman, ‎urged the citizenry to be grateful for the peace and unity in the country amid prevailing economic challenges.
