Unpaid salaries: CiSHAN vows to protestd of members

The Civil Society on HIV in Nigeria (CiSHAN) Kogi State chapter has threatened to march to Kogi State Government House with the corpse of any of its members working with the State Government, who dies on account of non payment of their salaries.

The society said they have observed with a new and frightening scenario playing out in the Kogi State public service whereby State Coordinators of (Network of Persons Living With HIV and AIDs (NEPHWAN), Association of Positive Young Persons in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living With AIDS in Nigeria (ASWAN) are among the categories of workers being owed 15-24months.

This was contained in an address presented by State Coordinator, civil Society on HIV in Nigeria (CiSHAN) Kogi State Hamza Aliyu at the press conference to mark the 2017 World AIDS Day Commemoration at the NUJ press center Lokoja yesterday.

He said the category of workers have been finding it difficult to get their drugs and hence the fear that the virus may spread and overwhelm them.

He said there are many other civil servants that are Living With HIV who are yet to be paid their salaries making it difficult for them to buy their drugs.
