Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the news of Obinwanne Okeke popularly known as Invictus Obi, a Nigerian entrepreneur and a Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 honoree, who has been sentenced to a 10-year jail term for computer and wire fraud by an American court.
He was found guilty of causing approximately $11 million in known losses to his victims between 2015 and 2019, a crime which he pleaded guilty to in June.
Prior to the news of his crime, he was named on the Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 For 2016 and was featured on the magazine’s June 2016 cover. A year later, CNBCA named Okeke as a finalist for Young Business Leader of the Year (West Africa).
Also, his Invictus Group claims to have investments in oil and gas, construction, energy solutions, technology, and agriculture.
The news of his sentence has generated lots of reactions from Nigerians on social media, and below are some:
The same Nigeria that Obinwanne Okeke produced (Invictus Obi) is the same Nigeria that produced Okonjo Iweala, #Davido and Deejay Val who sang Pak and Go.

This fraud case with Obinwanne Okeke aka Invictus Obi is perfect example of people doing shady things & using entrepreneurship to cover it up.
It’s sad that a lot of our youths look up to some of these people who aren’t straight with their sources of income.

Forbes celebrated Entrepreneur Obinwanne Okeke aka Invictus Obi bags 10-year jail term in the US for fraud.
Another evidence FRAUD doesn’t pay in the long run.

And to think that I used to see Obinwanne Okeke as an ‘inspiration’, a young entrepreneur making waves and bringing business solutions, meanwhile all na Lori iro.
All that glitters is definitely not gold.

Obinwanne Okeke aka InvictusObi was so loud about the ill gotten wealth he had. More than often, scammers attract too much attention to themselves from the extravagant lifestyle they live.
Even if you want to show off, make sure your source of income is legitimate.

Obinwanne Okeke Invictus getting 10 yrs doesnt look like a bad landing
His lawyers may have had a decent case with the way he used the money – investmt, employmt, motivational appearances
Hushpuppi’s lawyers may have a more difficult case. Would be surprised if his is < 10 yrs

Obinwanne Okeke aka Invictus Obi fraud case is an example of people doing dirty things and saying they’re entrepreneurs.
If you ask them how? They’ll fall back to “Na God ooo” and sadly many people look up to them. Even Forbes under 30 was admiring him.
