Former Super Eagles captain, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, El Hadji Diouf, Asamoah Gyan and Ahmed Hassan are the first African football icons to sign up for the recently launched CAF Ambassadors programme.

Famous football players, community leaders, and other well-known individuals will be included in the CAF Ambassadors programme.

Their responsibilities will encompass advocating for CAF and African football in addition to being heavily involved in various other events, like as competitions, charitable endeavors, and social and business gatherings.

The four well-known public people that are considered legends were chosen based on a variety of factors, such as commercial worth, societal impact, and professional and athletic accomplishment.

On his part, Hassan remains one of the most decorated players in the history of African football, winning four Africa Cup of Nations titles with the Pharaohs of Egypt – 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010. He also famous for his over 170 caps with Egypt, which ranks him amongst the most capped players of all time.

Nigeria’s iconic midfielder Okocha was a delight to watch during his hey days. He won the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in 1994 and also Olympic gold two years later in Atlanta, USA.

As for Hassan, he continues to be among the most accomplished players in African football history, having won four Africa Cup of Nations championships with the Pharaohs of Egypt in 1998, 2006, 2008, and 2010. He is also well-known for having played for Egypt for over 170 caps, making him one of the all-time greatest players in caps.

With the involvement of notable figures from many sectors, the Ambassadors Program is anticipated to expand the scope of CAF’s operations and have a positive social and economic influence throughout the continent.

The initiative will improve engagement with fans and other stakeholders worldwide and create new revenue streams for CAF through ongoing relationships with legends and celebrities.

More names that will be a part of the Ambassadors Program will eventually be announced by CAF.
