PAP, NDRBDA to partner on food security

• N’Delta ex-agitators warn politicians against meddling in programme

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA) have agreed to partner on the food security project of the NDRBDA aimed at boosting agricultural activities to tackle food security in the region.

The two federal agencies reached an understanding when the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NDRBDA, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, visited the PAP Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, in his office in Abuja yesterday.

Speaking during the visit, Otuaro assured Amgbare of the PAP’s readiness to support the project titled, ‘Food Security is the Real Security.’

He noted that the Niger Delta is endowed with fertile soil and an attractive farming climate for sustainable food production and entrepreneurship. Otuaro’s comments were contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma.

MEANWHILE, Niger Delta ex-agitators, opinion leaders and traditional rulers, yesterday, appealed to the President to call some self-serving politicians, who are determined to frustrate the PAP, to order and allow Otuaro to implement outlined visions for the ex-agitators and Niger Delta region.

The ex-agitators equally vowed to work and support the PAP’s boss in delivering the mandate of the programme. He said that already the positive impacts of Otuaro and his team are being felt across the region, including the grassroots with some of their thoughtful and people-oriented projects such as the ongoing scholarship programme for delegates of the programme.
