The commendation was given by a delegation of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) led by its Zonal Coordinator, Lagos office, Lucas Koyejo, during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja at the weekend.

While appreciating the synergy between the Police and the commission in the state, Koyejo sought more collaboration especially in the fight against abuse of human rights.

While appreciating the delegation, Alabi said respect for and protection of fundamental human rights were cardinal parts of his security template and that those were emphasised at his maiden press conference upon his assumption of duty on January 24, 2022.

The CP further assured the delegation that the Command would not only continue to protect fundamental human rights of citizens, respond swiftly to cases involving domestic violence and sexual offences as priorities.

It was agreed that there should be regular joint Human Rights training and retraining for police officers of the Command.
