Rotary honours first Baby of the Year

Members of the Rotary Club of Lagos Central yesterday honoured the first baby of the year with gifts at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital (LIMH).


The first baby, a female, was delivered of Mrs. Kafayat Mojisola Muhammed at 1:24 a.m. on Sunday. The second and third babies, both females were also given awards.

The second baby, was delivered of Mrs. Ojo Grace at 1:49a.m. and Mrs. Ebuka Victoria delivered the third baby at 6:52a.m.

In his address, President of the club, Abiodun Aderoju noted that the programme was the club’s flagship project for over two decades.

He said the project aligns with Rotary International focus on improving child and maternal healthcare.
 
According to him: “As a baby of the maternity, it gives me joy to associate with the initiative. Our desire is to ensure that the project remains on our radar with positive outcomes.” 
 
Conclusively, he acknowledged: “I wish to thank the management of the LIMH for their cooperation and our members for making the needed sacrifice to sustain this project. I pray that as we all identify with this project, the Almighty God will meet us at our points of need.”

Responding, the Managing Director LIMH, Dr. Femi Omololu, who was represented by Director, Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Ogungbemile Babalola, expressed appreciation to the club for the gesture.

Diligent members of staff of the hospital were also honoured with plaques and monetary rewards. In the junior category, Mrs. Sofola Titilayo Ajoke emerged the overall best, while, Dr. Olamigoke Olukiwa Adenike emerged best member of staff in the senior category.
