Shinkafi resumes as Perm. Sec, warns staff against indolence

The newly deployed permanent secretary to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Aliyu Shehu Shinkafi, resumed duty on Wednesday.


Shinkafi, who officially took over from Mrs. Didi Wilson-Jack on Wednesday, was the former permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and recently in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The new permanent secretary, who was welcomed by directors in the Ministry of Water Resources, in his remarks warned staff against indolence and unwholesome activities.

Shinkafi, while expressing readiness for collaboration with the staff of the Ministry in the area of work ethics and commitment to duties, also emphasized an open-door policy and urged all Staff to cooperate with him to fulfil the Ministry’s mandate.

The Permanent Secretary pledged to work harmoniously with all staff in order to achieve the set out objectives of the Priority Areas of Water and Sanitation Sector.


In her handover address, Mrs. Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to the Ministry and her Agencies’ staff as well as the Stakeholders for their support during her tenure.

Also, in her welcome address, Mrs. Phoebe Nwandu, the Director of Special Duties at the Ministry acknowledged the significance of the transition of responsibilities from one capable leader to another.

She expressed gratitude to the outgoing Permanent Secretary for her exemplary and visionary leadership and welcomed Alhaji Shehu Shinkafi on behalf of the Management and staff of the Ministry.

Mrs. Nwandu urged all Ministry’ staff to collaborate and work effectively to achieve the Ministry’s mandate.

Shinkafi who hails from Zamfara state was among the three men and a woman who were sworn-in as permanent secretary by former president, Muhammadu Buhari in September 2020.
