Laloko sure Siasia’s Eagles will beat pharaohs, kicks against foreign coach

super-eaglesFormer Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, Kashimawo Laloko, believes the Coach Samson Siasia-led Super Eagles will beat the Pharaohs of Egypt in the Gabon 2017 AFCON qualifiers scheduled for next weekend.

Nigeria meets Egypt on March 25 and 29 in Kaduna and Alexandra respectively, with the Pharaohs sitting on top of Group G log with six points. The Eagles are on four points and second on the log.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Laloko, who said he knew Siasia’s pedigree, said Nigerians would smile at the end of the day if they supported the former Flying Eagles coach.

Laloko said, “Our game against the Pharaohs is a very big stake for us because now the indigenous coaches are handling the team. I know we will do well even though the time is too short because I trust Siasia. He will not take the match easy. I trust him because I have worked with him before as the NFF’s technical director. He is always serious with work, and I want to believe he will approach the matches in a very serious manner.”

The former coach of the defunct Julius Berger Football Club of Lagos, condemned the list of foreign coaches said to be interested in the Super Eagles job, saying no coach in the list, except Phillip Troussier, deserves to come back to handle the Nigerian team.

“Who is the coach they want to bring in to coach our team? Do you want to bring in Van Gaal, or Mourinho, who? Among those who are trying to come back none deserves to be back because they contributed nothing to the team, except for Philippe Troussier. I worked as the NFF’s technical director and I worked with so many of them and Troussier was the only person who brought in ideas that I learnt from.

“This list came up after Pinnick’s declaration that he does not want to use a Nigerian coach. That declaration, I insist, is an insult and a very unfair one to our coaches. If really they want an indigenous coach, let them advertise it and if they want to handpick, let them do that.”
