No cause for alarm – Pinnick assures
Eagles can’t qualify, says Ezeugo
President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles would be given the best of preparation in the qualification race for the World Cup.
“It is a tough draw, but then I have always said that you have to beat the best to get to the World Cup. Now we have the draw, we know how to prepare. The preparation has to start right now and we must make good use of every single day leading to the kick –off of the series.
“The other pools are tough as well, because for me, you can never afford to under –rate any team these days. Now we must quickly sort out the issue of Head Coach and his assistants and put every other thing in place in good time,” NFF president Amaju Pinnick told thenff.com.
However, former Super Eagles midfielder, Emeka Ezeugo, says he does not see Nigeria qualifying from the group.
Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Ezeogu said the group would be tough for Eagles adding: “It is a tough group, but I can tell you categorically that with the kind of people we have in the NFF right now, we are going nowhere.
“Tactically from the way we have been playing, I don’t think we have a team. The truth is that we cannot compete with these teams in our group. These are teams that have mastered themselves in recent years and are currently rated higher than us in FIFA ranking. That notwithstanding, we have the players who can do it, but the team is nonexistence,” he said.
