President- General of Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, has called on governments at all levels to pay attention to the grassroots, where a lot of talented youths reside.

After several months of fighting by members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, truce was finally reached yesterday, as leaders of the two groups agreed to work together in the interest of the nation’s sports.

Few weeks ago, the two factions led by Dr. Rafiu Ladipo and Mr. Vincent Okumagba, were prevented from traveling with the Super Eagles to Zambia for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The decision by Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, and NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, to drop the Supporters Club members at the Abuja Airport was to prevent distraction in Super Eagles’ camp before the game. Nigeria won the match 2-1.

However, the two groups came to a round table yesterday for a reconciliation meeting, which was mediated by the NFF in Abuja.

At the end of the meeting held under the supervision of acting chairman, NFF Reconciliation Committee, Bola Oyeyode, the two groups agreed that election into the National Executive Committee of the Supporters Club, be held on December 10, 2016.

A communiqué issued by the NFF, signed by leaders of the two groups, Ladipo and Okumagba, and made available to The Guardian yesterday, stated that the chairman of the Board of Trustee, in conjunction with the NFF Reconciliation Committee will coordinate the process leading to the election, while the Electoral Committee is independent of both parties.

Among other things, the communiqué further stated that the Office of the President General and the Deputy President General will become vacant in July, 2017, just as the Acting National Chairman, Okumagba was told to tender a letter of apology to the chairman, Board of Trustee.

The Congress of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club was also directed to reverse the impeachment and suspension of the Ag. National Chairman, Vincent Okumabga.
