TechPlus polishes Nigeria’s ICT space

Nigeria’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) space got polished with the successful hosting of the just concluded technology exhibition and conference, Techplus 2017.

Now in its third year, Techplus 2017, held in Lagos from July 6 to 8, brought together hundreds of leading experts in technology business from around the world to share insights and gain more knowledge on innovation and technology development, including gaming.

Declaring open the forum, themed; ‘An intelligent Future’, Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, applauded the organisers for holding such a robust conference to create practical opportunities for stakeholders to talk about technology and feel the impact that ICT has different facets of life, both from business and consumer perspectives.

Shittu noted that continued success of the programme will enhance the country’s ICT sector and makes it more competitive.Techplus 2017 offered top players from the banking, e-commerce, Telco, health care, media ICT, Education, Advertising and many other sectors an opportunity to show case their products and services. Brands such as UBA, The Guardian, Innjoo, Stanbic IBTC, Wema Bank, Remitta, Sage, Samsung, Lenovo, Jumia, Avon HMO, HP, were among participants.

Country Manager, Innjoo Technology, Rakesh Rocque, appreciated the organizers for creating a platform that enhanced direct engagement between consumers and the brands, and allowing for on-the-spot feedback and idea sharing. He said, not only was it a good marketing platform for effective networking and building of business contacts, the classes were quite informative and educating. “We will continue to key into the advantage of Techplus platform annually’’ he added.

In his comments, Customer Service, Product Marketing, UBA, Nonso Nduanya, noted that, it was the banks’ first experience at Techplus, saying ‘he was impressed with the organization and customers response to the offerings was rewarding. He added that, if such huge platform is spread across major cities in Nigeria, it will help to foster consumer-brand relationships.”

General Manager of Techplus, Taiwo Oyewole, said the conference or exhibition bought up many novel ideas that will deepen conversations in the sector and ensure that participants make true connections and seize opportunities to transact business, even afterwards.

Oyewole added that, “Over the past editions, TechPlus has become many things to different people. A place to learn, gets the pulse of the market in the tech ecosystem, meet like minds, network, play games and of course also have fun.”

Still on a high positive note, Kehinde John, an exhibitor with Avon, a premium health management company revealed that Techplus 2017 has been a great experience in terms of contacts, quality of participants, good environment and remarkable support from the organizers. “Very few participants would not want a repeat after this type of excitement that was sustained for three consecutive days. I know the organizers will raise the bar next year” she said.

Another exhibitor from Advoice, a content service and mobile advertising company, Jide Mathew described Techplus 2017 as a unique and wonderful experience. “I am really impressed that the organizers can use social media to attract this huge ‘pool’ of quality young people for a sustained period of three days. We made lots of contacts and we believe it will translate into quality, long and sustainable business relationships since they were mostly young people and entrepreneurs” he opined.
