The embattled acting national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Lamidi Apapa, was seen in court again on Friday morning despite the humiliation he suffered from the party’s supporters at the last sitting.
Recall that Apapa was booed by the party’s supporters at the Appeal Court in Abuja on Wednesday.
That was after Apapa and the Director General of Peter Obi’s presidential campaign council, Akin Osuntokun had earlier clashed.
Apapa and Osuntokun were seen in viral videos arguing over a seat at the PEPT sitting in Abuja.
Apapa who is locked in a battle with the suspended LP chairman Julius Abure, had arrived at the court for the case of a petition which the Presidential Candidate of the party, Obi, filed against the victory of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The supporters of the opposing LP faction outside the court were captured in a video screaming, ‘Ole’ (loosely translated as a thief), ‘Imposter’ etc., as Apapa’s supporters led him away.
Apapa, however, told Channels TV that he went to the Tribunal to assert his authority as the acting national chairman of the Labour party.
Apapa on Thursday said he intended to attend the pre-hearing on Peter Obi’s petition against Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) again on Friday, May 19.
“I intend to go,” Apapa said on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme when asked whether he planned to attend the Tribunal again following the boos he got from the LP supporters on Wednesday.
“May be by the next one, I will be recognised,” Apapa stated. And on Friday, he was seen in a video attending the pre-hearing at the Tribunal in Abuja.
