NDIC donates e-library to College under CSR initiative
The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has donated an e-Library to the Sarduana Memorial College, Kaduna, Kaduna State, as part of its contributions to educational development.
The library, which value was put at about N25m was the first of its kind in any secondary school in the region, a development that drew excitement from stakeholders in the city.
According to a statement, the Director, Human Resource of NDIC, Aminu Ahmed, who represented the MD/CEO, Alh. Umaru Ibrahim, while speaking at the inauguration of the facility said the agency was motivated to make the donation because of the impact it would make on the students and their career.
Ahmed, who schooled the audience on the mandate of the NDIC, said the primary function of the agency was to cushion the effect of failed banks on the depositors by paying sums ranging from the least amount a bank customer has in the bank up to N500,000 in the event of any bank failure.
“We protect bank customers by paying them their money up to five hundred thousand naira in the first instance in the event of a bank failure. We do no like bank failure, but at times, some banks behave in a manner that is inconsistent with their license to the detriment of depositors, forcing us to come in.
