Flagging off the distribution at the weekend, in Damaturu, VSF Executive Director, Prof. Nana Tanko, disclosed that the exercise is to support indigent victims of terrorism, while taking refuge in camps and host communities.

“About 60,347 IDPs are affected in the 13-year insurgency,” she said, adding that they are in dire need of food aid and other basic needs of life to survive.

She added that the displaced persons are currently living in IDP camps and host communities of Geidam, Tarmuwa, Gashua, Yusufari and Damaturu, the state capital.

According to her, the distribution of food items is to meet the nutritional needs of households for a month.

She said each household was provided with a bag each of maize and millet grits, beans, rolls of spaghetti, a gallon and tin of cooking oil, including tomato paste and packs of seasoning cubes.
