A former commissioner of health in Kogi State, Dr. Idris Omede has been elected as the 15th president of Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) at the 32 Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the body.

Idris, who was also the immediate past President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), was elected recently during the Association’s annual meeting held in Lagos.

Idris replaced Folusho Fasoto as the President of APBN.

Speaking after his election, Idris lauded his colleagues for entrusting the Association in his care while pledging his commitment to position the association for greater achievements.

He argued that as an association of professionals registered by an Act of Parliament, it is a welcome development to have professionals coming together to form a body that chart forth a course for the nation.

He added: “There is nowhere in the world, you talk of development without professionals. Thereby, we want to continue to exert ethics of profession in ensuring that there is harmony and cordiality within the professions who are intrinsically interwoven to deliver service to the people.”
