CIPM tasks members on technology to boost efficiency

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has charged its members to deploy technology to deliver optimal service to their clientele.

The President and chairman of council, CIPM, Udom Inoyo, who gave the charge at the 2018 learning leaders’ forum held at the institute in Lagos, explained that technology is a must in order for human resource experts to remain relevant in their chosen field.

Speaking on ‘Changing Current Paradigms-A New Approach To Developing Leaders For The Future’, Inoyo said as the future goes digital and the institute’s key focus for the year,  which is leveraging on technology, CIPM is supporting its members and organisations with bespoke learning programmes to keep them abreast with emerging trends in the profession.

According to him, as organisations grow smarter with a complex global market place and a growing millennium workforce that demands new style of leadership, there was the need for developing leaders.

He added that learning was the crucial medium for adapting and achieving the all-important critical factor for survival in the times we need them.
“Today’s leaders are facing challenges their fore bearers never had, not only with the on-going economic uncertainty and geo-political instability, it is also a complex global market place with a growing millennium workforce that demands a whole new style of leadership.

“It is essential, therefore, for leaders to examine the challenging land scale of working, learning the whole of technology in delivery and the need for businesses and its talents to drive the transition into the future,” Inoyo said.

In his remark, the guest speaker, co-founder and managing partner of trans-Sahara Investments Corporation, Kyari Bukar, said leaders should be more focused on vertical development kind of leadership, which is turned on by the individual and not a human resources approach.

He stated that a leader with cognitive development is key while vertical development is the most important for effective leadership. He added that leveraging on technology is the solution for the future and development human resources profession.
