ICSAN boss urges Nigerians to be patient with Buhari
Dr. Ndanusa, who made the plea shortly after the Institute’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Lagos, stated that the delay in appointing Ministers does not mean that President Buhari is too slow in taking action that will benefit the country.
“President Muhammadu Buhari had explained that the delay in constituting the federal cabinet is to smoothen rough edges and set new rules for the betterment of the nation. So, the delay in appointing Ministers should not be seen as President’s inaction or being slow.
“Since we believe that what is worth doing at all is worth doing well, Nigerians should allow President Buhari to prepare very well in order to have a smooth journey. Since he has promised to constitute his federal cabinet in September, let us allow him to set new rules so that people of credible and impeccable characters will be appointed and abided by the rules.
“Nigerians should give him a chance. We should know that the new President is coming with good credentials to fight corruption, social and other vices in the country.
“As promised, I’m sure that President Buhari will address issues like corruption, insecurity and unemployment, among others. We need leaders like that for our economy to boom and for the employment of the youths”, he said.
He stated that despite the challenges facing it during the year under review, the Institute has continued to make appreciable progress, adding that efforts were made to ensure that the Institute was strategically positioned to achieve its set goals and objectives.
According to him, “the operating environment was harsh and the political climate charged. The issue of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) was a major issue and it impacted negatively on the operating environment.
