ICSP inducts new members, restates commitment to high standards
Institute of Certified Sales Professionals (ICSP) recently inducted some new members and offered the epochal Nigeria Sales Excellence (NISE) Awards to nominees, who have contributed immensely to the sales profession in the country.
The event, which was well attended, was also used to admonish sales professionals to adhere to the ethics of the profession. Explaining the rationale behind the dual event, the president of the institute, Arthur Oziogbo said, the essence of the event was to recognise new sales professionals who have joined the institute and also reward organizations that have excel in the distribution and patronage of their goods and services across the country.
“Selling is about what is available, if you don’t produce, you can’t sell; if the economy is shrinking and cannot produce, the selling profession and sales force would be at risk’.
He opined that if an enabling environment is created for business to thrive, the sales people are always ready and willing to do their bit so as to move the economy forward, both in local and international perspective.
“ Basically the first thing this professional body (ICSP) needs from the government is to create enabling environment, which includes; infrastructure, security and power. Once these are in place, business professionals will be able to thrive in the market,” he said.
Speaking on the topic: ‘Making the Best of a Tough Situation’ the Chairman of the event, Dr. Ayo Teriba, stated that the study was to intimate the participants with the tips for personal and organizational survival in a challenging economy as its align with the theme of the event; “ When the Going Gets Tougher”.
Oziogbo who commended the inductees for faithfully going through all the stages necessary to become a ‘Certified Sales Professional’, urged them to maintain the momentum to ensure that the vision of creating g a formidable platform for all professional sales people in Nigeria is realized.
Speaking further, he applauded the nominees for the NISE Awards, saying the award was a pointer to their organisations’ attitude to business and faith in the Nigerian society.
Besides, he explained that it is the institute utmost desire to see a better and bigger NISE Awards next year, adding that, every support given to rapidly enhance the growth and development of the Sales Institute is welcomed.
