Kebbi partners Credit Direct on loans for workers
In its effort to lift civil servants on or before retirement, the Kebbi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Credit Direct Limited, to enable state workers to access soft loans.
Singing the agreement the state Head of Service, Abubakar Udu Idris said the state government approved the scheme for civil servants to build their own houses and create small businesses that would help them become self-employed after service.
“We reached the agreement after series of meetings and engagements with Labour unions, office of the Head of Service, the ministries of justice, finance and representatives of the firm,” he said.
Idris explained that the loanable amount would not exceed 1/3 of the beneficiary’s monthly net salary, adding that the repayment period would be within the maximum of 12 months, which attracts a 4 per cent interest rate.
“The Ministry of Finance would carry out all deductions directly from the payrolls of beneficiaries for onward remittance to the company’s account,” he added.He then advised the civil servants not to abuse the scheme and ensure that they only apply for the facilities whenever the need arises.
Leader of Credit Direct team, Abiodun Adigun thanked the state government for acceding to the demands of the people and for the introduction of the scheme in the state.
He disclosed that the company has disbursed N120 billion loans to over 1.4 million workers across the 27 states of the federation while over 120 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) had also benefitted from the scheme over time.
He assured of the firm’s allegiance to the state government and to the workers in meeting all their urgent financial obligations.“Under the agreement, workers in the state employ will get loans of between N20, 000 and N1, 500, 000 depending on their grade level within 24 hours of submission of duly completed and certified applications,” he added.
Those that witnessed the signing of the agreement include Idris, Solicitor General, Tasiu Likita, Accountant General, Ibrahim Zaki and the state NLC Chairman, Umar Halidu Alhassan, as well as Country Sales Head of Credit Direct, Abiodun Adigun, Head, Human Resources, Oluseyi Tolu-Boluwatise, Head, Public Sector Sales, North, Achia Tor-Agbidye and Head, State Sales, North, Femi Ramat Mogaji, among others.
