PIND trains Niger Delta youths on poultry farming
The two-week training programme, which was executed by the Perfect Works Integrated Services Limited (PWISL), ended in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa LGA of Ondo State recently.
Frank Ibeh, the NCDMB Manager Capacity Building, said the training was designed to reduce unemployment and restiveness among the youths in the region and Nigeria at large.
Ibeh noted that the board had been training youths in several self-reliant and empowerment programmes, and utilize the potentials in agriculture not only to empower the youths but also to enhance green revolution in the nation.
According to him, the youths would not be given money as it is in vogue but would provide all the necessary tools, materials and mentorship they would need to be successful poultry farmers.
“We are not giving money because in the past we noticed that after giving money to trainees, they divert it. It is about building capacity, which is our core mandate,” he said.
Aside training them on best practices in poultry farming for high yields and profit, the Manager disclosed that the board would link them to existing market in the oil and gas sector.
