Lady Ekwe to thrill on world stage
For Anu, also known as Lady Ekwe, the beats of her percussion is expected to take her round the world in the next few days. Noted as Nigeria’s only female percussionist, Anu blends her voice perfectly with energetic performance. Her deftness on the traditional instrument helps good delivery
She will first appear at the Made in Nigeria Exhibition holding in Abidjan, Cote d’ Voire on September 5, and will proceed to the Addis Ababa headquarters of the African Union (AU) to perform at the reception for world dignitaries attending the African Fashion show put together by AU in conjunction with the legendary Gold for African Fashion on September 15. She is also listed to ply her sensational act on the Paris stage as one of the guest artistes in October for a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) summit.
Lady Ekwe has shown artistic dexterity with the ekwe percussion, which in Eastern Nigeria is a male dominated instrument.
She has in recent time appeared in a number of classic events across the country and was one of the star performers at the debutant Nigerian Drum festival where she held the audience spellbound with her awesome and enthralling performance as she combined perfectly her percussionist skill with her singing and theatrics.
