Flavour to headline foundation’s anniversary celebration
Speaking with the media in Lagos, the President of TIS, Mrs. Oge Ironu, said Nigerian pop singer, Flavour Nabania, would be performing at the event, which is billed to hold on June 6, in Washington DC, United States.
“We would be celebrating our 25 years of charitable giving. Already, Flavour, who I’m so proud of, has volunteered to honour us with his appearance,” she stated.
The foundation, which is focused on empowerment, has ties with the District of Columbia Council, United States.
Renowned for its interventionist programmes targeted at the underprivileged people living in rural regions of sub-Saharan Africa, according to Ironu, “with help from our partners, TIS has been able to train over 2,500 young people for entrepreneurship development and feed over 3,000 internally displaced persons in Nigeria.”
While also highlighting some of the works the foundation has done over the years, Ironu stated her foundation, through its implementation arm, The African Community Bridge Foundation (ACBF), which is Nigeria-based, has focused its philanthropic activities on development projects that address training, capacity building, skill acquisition, economic empowerment, education, global health, water, sanitation, hygiene, agriculture and solar power training among others.
“We have partners in Nigeria, like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Bank of Industry and even microfinance banks. They refer young people to us to get trained on how to start their own business, become entrepreneurs and the like. What makes us unique, however, is that after we’ve trained them, we give them seed capital.”
Speaking on his planned performance at the TIS’ event, Flavour said he did not have any hesitation in accepting to partner with the foundation, as he loves charitable activities.
“I love charity. It is what I love doing, it was easy for me,” he said.
