British mission interest shifts to Kano’s agro-businesses
British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Mrs Catriona Laing, who paid a visit to Governor Abdullah Ganduje at the Government House yesterday, the renewed commitment of the British government to build strong mutual collaboration with commonwealth countries in Africa.
Mrs Laing hinted about the paradigm shift in the procedures of the British government intervention in Nigeria, stressing the new concept of mutual accountability which would basically rely on clear terms, openness, and transparency.
She stressed that the mission was given clear instruction to deepen and strengthen the relationship with Nigeria and Kano, which is part of three mission states for mutual benefits of both partners.
“With the new government in the UK, we are on the journey of re-establishing and strengthening our relationship with our traditional partners in the commonwealth and Africa, especially in Nigeria.
“In our mission in Africa, we have 500 people in Nigeria. Few years ago, our previous prime minister visited Nigeria and I have been given very clear instruction to deepen and strengthen collaboration on commercial and economic fronts,” she said.
