EFCC quizzes two high court judges over alleged bribe
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has grilled two judges of the Federal High Court, Mohammed Nasir Yunusa and Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa, over alleged cases of corruption.
EFCC officials yesterday said their invitation was sequel to bribery and money laundering allegations the commission discovered during investigations in an ongoing case in which two senior lawyers have already been arraigned in court.
The Guardian learnt that the judges arrived at the commission’s Lagos office about 10.05 a.m. following an invitation letter from the EFCC.The source claimed that follow-up investigations indicated the two judges allegedly received sums of money from the two senior lawyers severally.
As at press time, the judges were still being quizzed by EFCC operators. The EFCC had last week announced that it was investigating eight other judges and two court registrars over corruption-related cases. The commission had also said that those implicated in investigations would be arrested and charged to court in due course.
