‘Extra-curricular activities vital in child’s development’
With the recognition that extra-curricular activities play a vital role in providing the well-rounded education to a child, Principal of Wellspring College, Lagos, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Oloriade, has urged school managers to regularly expose children in such activities. She spoke recently at the 10th yearly inter-house sports competition of the school and remarked that extracurricular activities enable students to sharpen their minds and bodies, be conscious of time and acquire new skills, among others.
Oloriade urged educationists to endeavour to balance both academics and athletic activities since its influence is overwhelming.
She said, “It contributes immensely in producing a total child and improving his overall productivity. And because we have gotten our combination right, we have started witnessing the efficacy of sound and quality education through the results of some of our ex-students in universities at home and in overseas.
“Wellspring College is not an island that can flourish in isolation; it soars on cooperation and competition. We operate under the technical supervision of the University of Lagos Consulting Services, which ensures high standards in staffing, teaching quality and students performance.
This helps us to develop the potentials of our students to the fullest”.
