The Awar-ul Islam Movement of Nigeria has condemned the terrorist attack on relatively peaceful city of Manchester, which caused untimely death of not less than 20 people and injuring several others, at the Manchester concert of American poster Ariana Gronde.

The National President, Anwar-ul Islam Movement of Nigeria, Barr. Mubashir Adekunle Ojelade said the organization condemns what he describes as “unwarranted attack under any guise and whatever causes the perpetrators might claim they have acted.

“The sanctity of human life cannot be compromised under any circumference, be it for political, racial or religious agitation.”He said, Islam is universally recorgnised as a religion of peace, and it advocates peaceful co-existence among peoples of diverse shades of opinion, political affiliation, race or creed.

“It is unfortunate that often times when dastardly acts of this nature are committed, the tendency on the part of those not well informed, is to associate the perpetrators with Islam merely on account of their names or tribes,” he said

According to Ojelade, “this is absolutely a wrong perspective from which to view the spate of violence prevalent in different parts of the globe today, but more pronounced in certain regions and now gradually extending to those cities hitherto believed to be less susceptible to violent attacks. Those who will or preach violence under the guise of religion are doing their own work not the work of God or any religion.

“We, as members of the Anwar-ul Islam Movement of Nigeria, commiserate with the United Kingdom, the mayor of Manchester City, the families of the victims, and wish all injured very speedy recovery.”

He urged the government at various levels to invest more on security through improved surveillance and provision of sophisticated equipment in all public buildings, market malls, recreation centers, schools to forestall another Manchester City experience.
