Ogun SUBEB calls for support to lift basic education
Stakeholders in the education sector have been challenged to design a viable framework and road map that would improve the quality of education in the state, especially at the primary school level.
Chairman of the newly inaugurated board of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Olatunde Okewole, who disclosed this at the first meeting of board in Abeokuta, insisted that it had become imperative for all to join hands to work towards the development of education in the state.
He therefore, urged stakeholders to cooperate with the board in order to eliminate challenges facing primary education in the state.
His words: “I want to solicit for the support of every member of this board, especially the directors. I believe in team work, it is not about the chairman, it is about all of us finding solutions to the issues and problems in our primary education sector and collectively fashioning out a road map that will conveniently lead us to our destination.”
He stressed, “We (the board) are not unaware of the challenge of finance in our country, Ogun State is not an island neither is SUBEB isolated and with the dedication on the part of all of us, I am sure we can think out of the box and find ways which we can mitigate and face the crisis facing the primary education in the State”.
In his welcome address, the acting board secretary, who also serves as the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Soji Adewuyi, noted that the meeting was organised to chart a new course for primary education improvement, urging the officers and the stakeholders to join in the process of rejuvenating the primary education sector of the state.
