Falz Raps In English, Yoruba And French On Captivating New Track ‘La Fête’

Falz has been on a real roll this year. Well, to be fair, since he burst on the scene a few years back, he hasn’t actually slowed down. His last four singles – Wehdone Sir, Baby Boy, Jeje and Something Light – have all been spectacular and his newest offering, La Fête is no different.

The ridiculously catchy song first debuted at the 2017 AFRIMMA awards earlier this month, where Falz deservedly – yes, deservedly – beat out the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Tekno and Mr Eazi to take home the award for ‘Best Male West Africa’.

Produced by Desma, La Fête finds Falz tapping into his inner Yemi Alade, alternating between a host of languages like a real ‘Papa Africa’. He switches between spitting brag-laden bars in English, Pidgin, French, Yoruba and even a little bit of Swahili with incredible ease.

The music video, which was directed by Clarence Peters, might just be the weakest part of this whole brilliant package. Don’t get us wrong, the video isn’t bad – on the contrary, it’s very well shot – but compared to the song it’s meant to prop up, it doesn’t really do it any justice.

Anyway, you should check out the video for La Fête below:
