Abductors of Kano legislator’s mother demand N50m ransom
Unknown gunmen who kidnapped Hajia Hafsat Abubakar, mother of member, representing Doguwa constituency in Kano State House of Assembly Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad Riruwe, have made contacts with the family, demanding payment of N50 million ransom.
Hajia Hafsat was kidnapped in her home at Riruwe village about 150 kilometers to Kano on Saturday evening.
The District Head of Doguwa, Alhaji Aliyu Harazumi, has meanwhile blamed the insecurity in the area on the sudden withdrawal of policemen from Falgore forest.
The forest is notorious for activities of cattle rustlers in recent times.
Confirming the development to journalists Monday, Salisu Riruwe said his mother was kidnapped by some hoodlums who stormed his residence at Riruwe village near Falgore forest Saturday night and took away his aged mother.
The Chairman House Committee on Information hinted that the abductors had since contacted the family demanding N50 million ransom before the woman would be released.
According to Salisu “ I got a phone call from home that our mother has been kidnapped. Few minute after that I received another phone call from a strange number. The person identified himself as the kidnapper. He confirmed to me that my mother has been abducted. He told me I have to pay a sum of N50 million before they release the old woman.”
