Adeboye lays foundation for International worship centre in Akwa Ibom
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch E. Adeboye, yesterday laid the foundation of the International Worship Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The 8,500 capacity centre would have 16 staircases, six to eight lifts, two churches and some chapels.
The state government is anchoring the project, with additional funding expected from philanthropists, corporate organisations and non-governmental organisations.
In his sermon, Adeboye commended the Akwa Ibom state government for the vision of a befitting place to worship God.
He preached his message from 1Chronicle 17:12-14, which he supported with other Bible portions.
The general overseer described God as the master builder who builds lives, marriages, people and edifices such as the international worship centre.
He lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for partnering the Almighty to embark on the project, and prayed that God rewards him for putting him first in his administration.
According to him, God works through partnership as could be seen in Genesis 2:21-23.
He promised that the worship centre would be successfully completed within two years.
The governor added that the centre was initiated to acknowledge God’s benevolence to the state.
He explained that Akwa Ibom has been fortunate to have past leaders who put God first, hence the progress and prosperity it had experienced over the years.
He urged politicians and critics to join in building the state, as well as the worship centre.
Also, the commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr. Akan Okon, said the altar would serve as a place of prayer, worship and positive identification for the people of the state.
He said the governor’s approach to issues affecting lives is a demonstration of his fatherly disposition as the spiritual leader of the state.
