AIB begins probe of Emirates, HAK Air collision

emirateA ground collision involving a Boeing 777-200LR belonging to Emirates Airline with a domestic airliner a B737-400 owned by HAK Air was on Monday night at about 9.30p.m reported at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has therefore deployed a team of investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident with a view to making possible safety recommendations.

Emirates, marked A6-EWD was said to be taxiing for a take-off en-route Dubai when its wing tip cut into the B737-400 HAK aircraft parked on the apron of the domestic wing of the airport.

While the Emirates aircraft had little damage on its wing tip, the HAK Air B737 sustained substantial damage.
The Emirates flight was aborted as a result of the accident as the passengers were evacuated immediately.
