Senate president Senator Bukola Saraki has been vindicated by the recent comments made by President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife that the government has been hijacked from her husband, said an aide to the senate president.

Mrs Aisha Buhari had suggested in an interview with BBC’s Naziru Mikailu that the rein of the government might have been hijacked from her husband in spite of famously declaring that he belonged to nobody during his inauguration.

“The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”

She added that “Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”

Saraki’s special assistant on new media, Bankole Omishore, said on Twitter that Mrs Buhari’s comments were in line with the senate president’s June 27, 2016 statement.

“It has become clear that there is a government within the government of President Buhari who have seized apparatus of executive powers to pursue their nefarious agenda,” said Saraki in a statement at the time.

Omishore said Saraki’s comments, like those of Mrs Buhari, were made in good faith and that those who bought into the President Buhari’s vision for Nigeria and campaigned with him were sidelined.

He insisted that the government had been hijacked by those who did not share the same principles with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari. This, he said, has precluded the government from delivering on its campaign promises.

“To say there is #govtwithingovt is now an understatement. What baffles me the most is the fact that they don’t even share same ideology,” Omishore tweeted.

“Quick excuse is that our political parties are not mature enough to run on ideology but there are basic principles in governance and politics.

“Folks who campaigned 4 @mbuhari & @APCNigeria because they believe in him & manifesto of APC are being sidelined for those who don’t care.”

“If you don’t believe in @MBuhari & @APCNigeria manifesto you can’t fulfil the campaign promises especially if you have your own agenda.

It is not surprising for the obvious reason about the formation of APC BASED ON THAT STATEMENT OF ‘strange bed’ fellows! In normal climes you’ll have bye-elections before the main election for all those who defected or crossed carpet from PDP mainly but with ‘Nigerian thing’ anything goes! Every country has in their political or electoral arrangement need for sue-elections for the unscrupulous politicians you wonder in spite of the PhDs they have in political science why they did not sue for this simple and universally accepted procedure in other to achieve the necessary purging required for the country so as to avoid what is being complained about in this article! What it is Nigerian politics is characterized by conspiracies, canny machinations and foolhardiness – obvious reason that things are not working as they do ion other economies; the worse is that nobody wats to correct the wring things because they gain recognition through the kind of manipulation – their ‘madus operandi’ otherwise they will not be in power! We pray for them come 2019 if what they are doing presently do not yield good and the expected dividends by 2018 particularly with the corruption rate in the country! We may run a flood gate – they still have not plugged the loophole in the carpet crossing Sec. of the Constitution and they are still crossing carpet and they have PhD Political Scientists as Chairmen for the INEC and the Judiciary also watching – all sit don dey look!
