APC, PDP trade words over alleged DSS DG’s partisanship
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday faulted the opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) claim that the Director-General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Mr. Lawal Daura, is one of its card-carrying members.
The APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described the accusation by the PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus, as absurd and frivolous.
The party challenged the PDP to publish any evidence it may have to confirm the allegation, adding: ‘’After all, it is trite that he who alleges must prove. ‘’In the absence of that, the PDP must call another press conference to publicly apologise to Nigerians for engaging in barefaced lies.”
APC expressed shock that the PDP has started exhibiting all the symptoms of hallucination so soon after its gravy train derailed, saying it’s obvious that the party has now started hearing voices.
Meanwhile, the PDP yesterday insisted that Daura performed crucial roles in the APC Presidential Campaigns Organisation as Chairman of its committee on intelligence.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said in Abuja yesterday that it is wrong for President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint persons with whom he had consanguineous relationship in sensitive national positions.
Metuh said: “We regret the press statement by the spokesperson of the ruling party (APC), Lai Mohammed, in which he attempted to deny that Mr. Daura served as head of intelligence committee of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation.
“First, we want to state very clear that we stand by the issue as raised by the national working committee. “We have our record, it is on record that he was the chairman of the intelligence committee of the APC campaigns and he is also related to the President personally. All these are not in contention. “We will take any other person speaking for the government, we will never reply to Lai Mohammed.”
