Ashafa visits, condemns insecurity in Lagos, Ogun border towns
Some of the communities that are said to be currently under siege of the criminals are Igbo-olomu, Agbede, Elepete and others in Ikorodu, while Imushin, Gbaga, Magbo, Itaoluwo in Ogijo are not spared.
Responding to the save-our soul call, the Senator representing Lagos East, Gbenga Ashafa, has said it is imperative for the country to address the issue as fast as possible, bearing in mind the consequences on the corporate existence and mutual relationship of the country if allowed to escalate.
Ashafa, who disclosed that he has deployed his team to Ikorodu for comprehensive assessment of the situation, lamented that the feedback he got was appalling.According to him, “after waiting for a while to observe the reaction of the Federal Government to this matter, I met with the Inspector General of Police and discussed the need to send a special crack team to Ikorodu to complement the efforts of the state government.”
Speaking during his visit to the affected areas, the lawmaker, while sympathizing with the victims, commended efforts of the state government, the state’s Police Command and the Onyabo security outfit, whose officers, including Mr. Rafiu Jimoh, have sustained some injuries.
The lawmaker added that all would be done to ensure that the agricultural potential in Ikorodu, which has attracted a lot of investment, is not destroyed by criminal activities.
