Ayade’s lacks direction, APC
The APC in Cross River State has berated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led government of Governor Ben Ayade saying it lacks direction and there is no governance in the state.
John Ochala, acting chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC) Cross River State chapter who said this while explaining why APC took the governor to court said, “The truth is that there is absence of governance in this state”.
But the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and Special Assistant Media, Mr. Christian Ita dismissed the allegation noting, “the APC Chairman is speaking against public opinion”.
He explained that his party went to court to seek legal interpretation of the law regarding local government tenure, as “what we have in the local government system is illegal leadership
Ochalla said since 1999-2015, the state had conducted local government election as at when due in accordance with the provision of the local government law and “This is the first time in over sixteen years that the state has failed to conduct council polls after the tenure of local government Chairman and councilors that expired on December 15 2016.
But the state government got the approval of the state law makers to appoint heads of local government administration as chairmen”.
Ita however said, “how can there not be direction or governance in the state when companies are springing up daily and salaries are being paid when others are being owed elsewhere? Does he understand how government is run? He does not”.
