Corps members warned against being employed as thugs
Batch A Stream 1 Corps members, who passed out in a low-key ceremony in Benue State, have been warned to steer clear of unpatriotic politicians that may want to employ them as thugs for elections.
Benue State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Eno Herbert Awakesien, gave the warning at the state secretariat, while saluting the outgoing corps members for the dedication, doggedness and courage with which they contributed to the state’s development in the areas of education, healthcare, agriculture, as well as rural infrastructure.
She lauded those who went the extra mile to initiate and complete life-touching community development projects in their host communities, pledging that they will duly be recognised and rewarded.
Certificates of meritorious service were presented to 12 of the corps members that distinguished themselves in their Community Development Service (CDS) projects.
Similarly, three members of the 2017 Batch A Stream 1of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Kebbi State were given the prestigious state government award for distinguishing themselves in the area of community development, just as five others received commendation letters.
This was disclosed by the state Coordinator of the scheme, Alhaji Lawal Turawa, during passing-out ceremony of 1,288 corps members, who successfully completed their one-year mandatory service.
