Deputy governor calls for more enlistment of Benue indigenes in Federal Civil Service

Benue state Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu has appealed to the federal government to step up enlistment of Benue indigenes into the federal civil service.

Abounu who made the appeal while receiving relief materials donated by the Office of the Head of Service of the federation to victims of the recent flood disaster in the state, lamented that Benue is under represented at the national level despite the federal character policy of government.

He noted that there are citizens of the state that if given the opportunity, would perform better. He commended the gesture of the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, saying it will go a long way to alleviate their suffering.

The deputy governor, who is also the chairman of Flood Management Committee, promised that the relief materials would be sent to the right beneficiaries adding that the State government has already started resettlement of the victims.

Materials donated include 200 bags of rice, 100 cartons of detergent, wrappers and flour amongst others.
