Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, has urged youths to ensure that bad leaders are not allowed to continue in office.

He gave the advice yesterday in Abuja, at the National Unity Summit of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), with the theme: “The role of youths in ensuring peaceful and credible elections in 2019.”

The former Anambra State governor said the country is going down, noting that building the country’s capacity is not a rocket science.

“The people that are hungry in Ibadan, Kano Anambra are Nigerians, and we must fix the problem,” he said.

He urged the Federal Government to find ways of stopping the stealing, because Nigeria is not fighting corruption since the crusade is not an economic policy.

National President of YOWICAN, Pastor Nyeneime Andy stressed the need for peaceful conduct of the 2019 elections that would earn the trust and confidence of all Nigerians.

He urged politicians to stop using youths as political thugs, but engage them in productive ventures and inculcate in them good habits and discipline to enable them be good ambassadors of the society.

In a similar development, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, yesterday challenged women to vote for politicians, whose manifestoes give priority to their welfare.

Sanusi made the call while receiving a non-governmental organisation, Strong Women Network (SWN), whose leaders paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.

He urged the women group to rise to the increasing violence and molestation against women and children in the society.

The emir expressed concern that no candidate aspiring for political seat in the 2019 general election has created women development programme in their manifestoes.
