The second Covid-19 patient in Ekiti has tested negative and has been discharged from isolation, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi said yesterday.

The 43-year-old man was isolated two weeks ago after his blood sample was screened by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and it tested positive. Fayemi added that the Ekiti Covid-19 Response Resource Mobilisation Committee held its inaugural meeting yesterday and made several concrete steps. “Chief Afe Babalola set the ball rolling with a N100m donation and 800 bags of rice to the Food Bank. We are grateful”. Fayemi had last week appointed Babalola, former Governors Segun Oni and Ayodele Fayose and 44 others as menbers of the committee.

Meanwhile, Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Right and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, advised Nigerians, especially Christians to exhibit patriotism and make the requisite sacrifices for the country to subdue the deadly Coronavirus, codenamed Covid 19. Bamidele who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District said Covid-19 would be defeated if all Nigerians can pray and align with precautions outlined by the World Health Organisation and the Nigerian government.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu, yesterday, disclosed that seven more patients were discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, having recovered fully and tested negative twice consecutively.

The governor said with the seven newly discharged, it brings to 46, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from Yaba. The governor implored residents to stay home, observe the highest possible personal and hand hygiene and adhere strictly to public advisories from experts.
