Firm engages pupils on meal preparation at Intl Chef Day


In celebration of the International Chef Day, Nestle Nigeria Plc engaged 50 pupils from 10 primary schools across Ogun State on the rudiments of preparing healthy meals.

The event, which was held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, saw the pupils participating in the cookery workshop as they watch the chefs preparing several meals.

The schools, which participated include: Wesley School 2, Oko, Sagamu; St. Barnabas Primary School, Okun-Owa, Odogbolu; St. Paul’s School, Onile Imo; Our Lady of Apostles Primary School, Ijebu Ode; Oke Ona United School, Ilugun, Eleja; St. John’s Anglican, Methodist Primary School II, Ago Oko, Abeokuta; AUD Practicing School, Ota; Salvation Army Primary School, Agbara; and African Church Army Primary School, Ayetoro.

The Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Manager, Nestlé, Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka, said the event themed, ‘Foods for Healthy Heroes’, was organised in conjunction with the Nigeria Association of Chefs’ Society, “to raise awareness among children about healthy eating by letting them to be creative with food. We also aim to inspire chefs and provide nutritious and fun recipe ideas for their kids’ menu.”

Mrs. Egunjobi, Director of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ogun, said education on the benefits of good feeding habits was critical for Nigerians to truly lead a healthy life.
