Govs, eminent citizens grace Ooni’s wedding thanksgiving
After the impressive royal wedding in Benin City, Edo State at the weekend where the family presented Olori Wuraola Otiti Obanor to Pa Ogunwusi, the father to Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwisi, Ojaja II, a befitting thanksgiving ceremony yesterday held inside the expansive Ile Oodua palace in the ancient city of Ile Ife.
As expected the private royal gathering witnessed the presence of many monarchs from the northern part of the country and South West, including Ekiti, Ondo states and of course, a powerful delegation of Obas from Osun State.
The roll call of dignitaries at the royal wedding’s thanksgiving ceremony included Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and his Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola as well as Osun Deputy Governor Titi Laoye –Tomori, the Olu of Warri, the Emir of Borgu, General Alani Ipoola Akinrinade (rtd), Senator Daisy Danjuma and
Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu.
Other eminent Nigerians present were Senator Florence Ita Giwa, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Sat Guru
Maharaji, Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde (Kwam1) and popular Juju artiste, King Sunny Ade who came with his band to entertain the guests.
Admission to the venue was strict while journalists had to keep vigil to know what was going on inside.The union between the Ooni and the Olori had been described as a consolidation of the age-long connection between the Yorubas and the people of Benin in Edo State.
The Benin kingdom is believed to have close and long-standing relationship with the ancient city of Ile Ife.Dignitaries from within and outside the shores of Nigeria stormed the ancient town for the event.
