Harvest Plus promotes consumption of nutritious food
To promote consumption of nutritious food, Harvest Plus has urged stakeholders to develop strategy to expand delivery to boost citizens’ access. At the fourth edition of Nutritious Food Fair (NFF), the Country Head, Harvest Plus, Paul Ilona said that as a global body working with thousands of partners, his firm was committed to increasing the nutrient level in crops.
According to him, there has been gradual erosion of the power of nutrition to address human capacity. “Today we are faced with double burden of malnutrition. Malnutrition is not about you not getting enough food, it is about you not getting enough nutrients the body cells need to be of full capacity.
“Nutrition has become central to human development. At creation, what God called the Garden of Eden was a nutritious garden with food diversity and man ate what the body needed. But with increasing population and urbanization, Garden of Eden got destroyed and only a few plants humans wanted as food were maintained.”
